Prostate Exam Vouchers

The American Cancer Society and the National Comprhensive Cancer Network recommend that men talk with a doctor or nurse about their health before having a prostate exam.  This conversation will allow you to make a better informed choice to have a prostate screening.  Because of the changing recommendations about prostate cancer screening, it is important that you have all of the information necessary to make the best decision.

Providing vouchers will allow us to improve the service you have received by giving some important benefits, including:

  • One-on-one time to talk with a doctor or nurse to help with informed decision making;
  • More privacy while getting your exam;
  • Being able to track how your PSA blood test is changing over time.  This helps with understanding if additional testing is needed and how often.
To meet these new recommendations, prostate exam will not be offered at this year's Men's Health Forum.  Instead, 500 Prostate Exam Vouchers for testing at Moffitt Cancer Center - Lifetime Cancer Screening and Prevention Center, will be available to men who qualify.

What is a Prostate Exam Voucher?

The Men's Health Forum will no longer provide prostate exams on site.  Prostate Exam Vouchers will be distributed (while supplies last) to men who qualify. The voucher enables you to get a free prostate exam at Moffitt's Lifetime Cancer Screening and Prevention Center.  Attendance at an educational workshop is required.

Why are there Prostate Exam Vouchers instead of on-site prostate testing at the Forum?

Due to recent changes in guidelines for prostate cancer screenings/exams, the Men's Health Forum will now provide a limited number of Prostate Exam Vouchers.

Why are the new Prostate Exam Vouchers better than on-site testing?

Providing vouchers will provide the following benefits:
  • One-on-one time to talk with a doctor or nurse to help with informed decision making.
  • More privacy while getting your exam.
  • The ability to track how your PSA blood test is changing over time. This helps with understanding if additional testing is needed and how often.
