2013 Men's Health Forum
Saturday, March 9, 2013
8:00am - 3:30pm
University of South Florida - Marshall Student Center
For many reasons, including the lack of insurance, awareness, access to doctors, etc., there is a growing number of men in our community without access to regular health care services. The Men’s Health Forum is a shared effort by area hospitals, health care organizations, churches, community organizations, and businesses to provide help to men who are uninsured, underinsured, or do not have a regular health care provider.

Past FREE wellness screenings have included: skin cancer; blood pressure; diabetes; cholesterol, HIV/AIDS; vision; hearing; prostate exam vouchers (must qualify).

Highlights from the 2012 Forum

  • Of 496 men examined, 63% were uninsured
  • Of 324 men tested, 47% had hypertension and 38% had high blood pressure
  • 270 men were educated on the importance of prostate testing and received vouchers for free prostate testing at Moffitt Cancer Center

  • Of 107 men completing their prostate exams, 19% had abnormal results
  • Of 190 men receiving skin cancer exams, 29% had suspicious skin findings
  • Of 351 men tested, 20% were identified as at-risk for diabetes
